Are you an American living in city? Or are you French and want to learn more about this American tradition?
As you can imagine, because of the lockdown in France, restaurants that usually offer meals for Thanksgiving are temporarily closed.
Never mind! Thanks to Zoom, you can cook a Thanksgiving dinner with your friends, especially if some of them are Americans: a good way for them to connect with their traditions while they are confined far from home.
And if you are a babysitter, you could suggest activities for children related to Thanksgiving.
SOME THANKSGIVING RECIPE IDEAS TO MAKE DURING THIS LOCKDOWN
Here are some easy recipes you can make for Thanksgiving that will be taking place on Thursday, November 26th.
Of course, you can also exchange recipes with your friends :)

Make a paper turkey!
©toutunpetitmonde.com
An ideal activity to have a real representation of the turkey, because young kids might not be
aware of what it is.
- Red, orange, yellow and brown “canson” papers
- A pair of scissors
- A tube of glue
- A pencil
- And a black marker.
How to proceed?
1. With a pencil, trace the outline of the 2 feet of the turkey on the brown canson paper (without making the outline of the toes).
2. Cut the shape of the feet on the outline with scissors to form the turkey’s body.
3. Draw in pencil the outline of the 2 hands of your little ones on the other coloured paper in several copies to form the feathers
4. Glue them to the back of the brown shape, alternating colors. The brown shape should be positioned vertically, with the narrowest part at the top (to make the head, as in the photo).
5. Mark the turkey's eyes on the upper part of the brown paper.
6. Cut out the turkey’s chin from the red paper (teardrop shaped upside down) and, with the yellow paper, from the beak (shaped like a triangle); that you can glue below the eyes.
7. Trace and cut 2 small legs from the orange paper and glue them at the bottom of the turkey's body.
Turkey bags for turkey treats!
©cleanandscentsible.com
The material you will need:
- Tulle: fabric that you will use to make the small bags
- Sweets, if possible, from the same brand (on the picture, they are M&Ms)
- Yellow, orange, brown and red pipe cleaners
- Adhesive eyes
- Glue
- And small hair ties.
How to proceed?
- Place your candies in the middle of the tulle circles and close them with the elastic bands.
Leave enough excess tulle to form the feathers on the back of your turkey.
- To form the bird’s head, cut the brown pipe cleaner to about 6 inches. Wrap the pipe
cleaner, leaving about 2 inches at the end.
- Cut a piece of orange pipe cleaner to form the spout (a little over 2 cm) and wrap it around
the outer coil of the brown pipe cleaner.
- Cut a piece of red pipe cleaner for the turkey's throat and glue the adhesive eyes to either
side of the beak.
- For the feet, cut a yellow pipe cleaner of about 8 inches and bend the end into three toes.
- All you have to do is glue the body parts on your tulle bag and your turkey is ready!
