For back to school, Mômji provides you with some manual activitie’s ideas that are easy and useful for the upcoming school year. Perfect to distract kids, these creative DIY can also help to kindly involve their motricity.

 

 

1. Easiest : Toilet roll pen holder 

 

We all underestimate what an empty toilet roll has to offer. So, let’s use it to realise a 100% personalized pencil pot!

 

You need

  •   Some toilet rolls or paper towel rolls
  •   Colored or decorative paper (optional)
  •   Acrylic paint
  •   White glue (optional)

 

1. Take the empty toilet roll. 

 

2. Help kid to wrap and glue a layer of paper around their roll (optional).

 

3. Make them paint on the surface. Don’t forget to let well dry if they want to apply multiple layers.

 

4. Glue rolls one with others.

 

 

Our tip : They can cut the rolls to differ your pot’s length

 

Kids will enjoy having their own unique pen holder, always proudly shown on their desk! 

 

 

2. Most sustainable : A treasure box made from shoebox 

 

Quite useful to put every small secret papers, stones and sticks brought back after each walk or old toys. Parents will be glad that kids have a designated place to store their precious memories elsewhere, maybe, their bedroom’s floor 👀

 

You need

  •   A shoebox 
  •   Decorative paper, or acrylic paint 
  •   Paper glue
  •   Scissors 

 

1. Help the kid to choose an old shoebox. Be sure that it's as clean as possible.

 

2. Show them how to glue the decorative paper or paint all the surfaces. 

 

3. Let all dry.

 

 

Our tip : Customize even the inside of the box, to give it an old strongbox pace.

 

Plus by growing up, kids will love to dive in their old treasure box.

 

 

3. Quickest : A coloured bookmark 

 

Perfect tool for early little bookworms, these bookmarks are easy and 100% customizable

 

You need :

  •  Cardboard paper

  •  Washi tape and/or felt pens

 

1. If the child is old enough to use scissors, have them cut a strip of paper about 5cm wide, across the entire width of the sheet. 

 

2. Have them decorate their future bookmark with their favorite washi tape or by drawing with colored markers. 

 

3. Have them fold the paper strip in half so that they can slide a page into it.

 

 

Our tip : If they’re old enough, make the kid cut the bors with round or sharp shapes, to give it a flag pace

 

Children could even gain more passion for reading with this cute bookmark!

 

 

4. Most useful : Cereal box organizer

 

If these huge boxes fit perfectly in our kitchen closets, they can also fit in other stuffs. Once transformed to organizers, they’re absolutely perfect to create storage for school supplies, and organize a desk or cupboard shelves of olders.

 

You need:

  •   Cereal Box 
  •   Decorative paper or acrylic paint
  •   Paper glue 
  •   Scissors 
  •   Ruler
  •   Pencil

 

1. Help the kid to cut the box horizontally, bevel. 

 

2. Show them how to glue the decorative paper they choose, or to paint the box’s surface.

 

3. Let it all dry.

5. Funniest : A coloured balloon stress ball

 

To entertain restless kids or calm anxious ones, there is nothing better than a satisfying anti-stress ball!

 

You need:

  •   A balloon
  •   Flour
  •   Marker
  •   Funnel
  •   Scissors

 

1. Without blowing it up, help the kid to fill the balloon with flour by using the funnel. It has to be full but easily fitting in your hand. 

 

2. Close up the balloon and cut right over the tie. The kid can try, but be aware of flour explosions!

 

3. With the marker, they can draw two eyes and a mouth on it, or funny motives.

 

 

Our tips : Place a second balloon over the first one, into which you will have previously cut holes. The flour from the first balloon will pass through the openings of this second layer, creating a "bubble" effect that children love

 

And then they have their own stress-ball!

 

 

Combine usefulness and creativity with those workshops. Each of these creations will be unique, and kids may keep them for several years.
