Don't queue for the 'tourist' sites -

Paris January

Seeing the Eiffel Tower, marching along the Champs Elysées and walking round the Louvre may not exactly seem like the most original ideas of things to do in Paris. However, did you know that January is the month that sees the fewest tourists in the city?

If you want to make the most of the traditional Paris sites and tourist hotspots, there is no better month to do so than January. Grab your wooly hat and scarf and brace the cold to dodge those summer queues and bustling crowds.

Fill your bags in the January Sales -

Soldes

Christmas has been and gone, and high street stores still have thousands of gift items to shift this season… roll on the January sales! The word ‘soldes’ (‘sales’) will be plastered across the city at the start of 2019 and every store with it in the window could be where to find you next great bargain. Sales are actually controlled by the state and only allowed twice a year in summer and winter, so this is the real deal.

From January 9th, the likes of Galeries Lafayette, BHV and Au Printemps have some of the most famed January sales but be sure to check out smaller shops around the city too. If you’re a student on a budget, there’s some good deals to be had out there!

Don't miss the Cirque Pinder -

Cirque Pinder

An annual affair at the Bois de Vincennes, January is your last chance to catch the Cirque de Pinder. This year’s show is an all new production from the husband and wife directors with all you favourites such as jugglers and acrobats as well as ‘exotic and domestic animals’, making for an evening for all ages.

Not far from the Lac Daumesnil, the Cirque Pinder is within walking distance from both Porte Dorée and Porte de Charenton on the line 8 metro and tramway 3a. You can book tickets either for a specific night or open tickets on the circus’ website.

Get your skates on –

Grand Palais

If you haven’t already benefitted from some of Paris’ winter ice rinks, there is still time in January to do so. This year, a giant ice rink returns to the hallowed Grand Palais for the 4th year running and has already proved a huge hit with Parisians and tourists alike. It’s an extravagant set up with lights galore, statues and more that makes for a brilliant Winter day out. It’s only open until January 9th, so be sure to get down ASAP!

Mômji’s Open House –

Open House

Every year Mômji works with thousands of internationals in the city and loves helping students settle into Parisian lifestyle. This January we have a social event in partnership with Lost in Frenchlation for you.

On January 19th we’ll be screening Les Intouchables with subtitles for free at 14h30 and 16h30. Come down, enjoy the fim and meet new friends! What’s more, our matching team will be on hand to see if there’s a perfect family to fit your timetable and help you on your way to a brilliant part-time babysitting job. Check out the Facebook event here and sign up now here!
