The Best Ways to Get to the U.K. This Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner! We don't know about you, but we couldn't be more excited! If you're planning on going to the U.K. for some time over the festive period, it can be a tricky game finding the best deals. Mômji is on hand to break down the best options for you.

BOOK NOW!

It's no secret that advance booking is they key to saving money when travelling. Experienced travellers often plan their trips a year in advance and make sure they reserve all their tickets well ahead of time.

For journeys across the channel this Christmas, it is true that many of the best deals have already been snapped up. As we approach December, travel companies know they can force you to pay more. So, do not dilly dally any longer! Have a read of this article then choose a decision and stick to it. Your bank account will thank you later!

EUROSTAR

train

If you're flexible with when you travel there are still some bargains to be had. Travelling the week before the 25th, there are single tickets available for under €50 still. Those are available for early journeys up until the 21st, after that you are going to be lucky to find a ticket under €80.

How long those bargain buys stay around for we can't be sure so, as always, speed is of the essence.

Your return journey is going to be a bit steeper on the price.Frankly, you aren't going to get a ticket under €100 before the Monday after Christmas Day. If you're pressed for time and want an easy journey back, it might be worth the cost. If not, travelling one way by Eurostar and looking for another way back may be a good shout!

BUS

bus

A student favourite, travelling by bus is almost always the lowest cost option. However, looking at prices and trip durations, if you can make one of Eurostar's final cheap early morning tickets that is going to be your best option.

On Thursday 20th the cheapest option you're going to find is €28, still a saving compared to Eurostar, but leaving at 7am and taking 9 hours, you've got to ask yourself if it is worth losing a whole day travelling for a €20 saving. After all, there's so much to be doing at this time of year! Travelling later than that and prices double, especially on the weekend.

However, travelling back to Paris by bus in the days following Christmas is going to set you back half as much as the Eurostar. That's all there really is to be said about it. The painfully long journeys are to be expected, but when you can save that much money, might well be worth seeing through.

PLANE

plane

Always an option, and one that is sometimes readily forgotten, you can always travel to London this Christmas by plane. Getting to Charles de Gaulle in Paris and then to London's centre from Gatwick or Heathrow is what dissuades most users, but spending only 40 minutes in the air speaks for itself.

The price isn't too bad either. Vueling are a budget airline that are usually pretty prompt and have return tickets from the 20th/21st to 26th/27th for €150. If you've left it this late to travel by Eurostar, schlepping out to the airports could well be your best option.
