What's on for students in Paris?

The holiday month of August may be over, but there’s no need to be glum in September! There’s always plenty going on in the capital and, as we head into Autumn, students start to arrive in the masses.

Mômji has been working with students for nearly a decade, offering rewarding and flexible part-time babysitting jobs to fit perfectly alongside their studies. If you’re interested, find out more here.

Here are the events we have our eyes on this month!

1. Life Start Paris 2018 – the must-attend event for students

Life Start Paris

If you’re a student in Paris and you attend just one event this September, it should be Life Start Paris 2018. Taking place at L’Atelier Eiffel on Saturday 22nd September, it offers all you could possible need as a student in Paris. Part-time jobs, banking assistance, accommodation, even some stand-up comedy… you name it, Life Start Paris has it.

What’s more, it’s completely free! Take 2 minutes to complete this form and SIGN UP NOW!

2. Paris Fashion Week – check out what the world’s best designers have to offer…

Paris Fashion Week

Whether you follow the movements of the fashion world or not, you’ll be familiar with the prestige of Paris Fashion week. It returns from Monday 24th September with Christian Dior kicking proceedings off. After that, the likes of Saint Laurent, Off-White, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton will all be on show during the week.

Tickets to the runways may be hard to come by, unless you happen to be very in-the-know. Nonetheless, be sure to enjoy the buzz in the capital and keep your eyes out for the world’s most famous models around the city.

3. Ryder Cup 2018 – Golfing greats head to the City of Love

Ryder Cup

If you’re a golf fan, you’ll need no reminding that the Ryder Cup is coming to town. For those not so attached to the sport, it’s one of the biggest competitions in the golfing world, bringing the American and European continents head to head. It’s taking place at the Golf National de Saint-Quentin from September 2018 to September 30 and more than 60,000 spectators are expected to attend the event.

Tickets are still available for the competition whilst, if you don’t fancy going along in person, there will be plenty of action in the centre of Paris!

4. Picasso. Bleu et rose – Get your art fill at the Musée d’Orsay

Picasso

From 18 September a special exhibition of Picasso from his ‘blue and pink’ period will be on display at the Musée d’Orsay. It is the first collaboration of this scale between the famous Parisian museum and the Musée national Picasso-Paris to explore the pinnacle period of Picasso’s art.

The museum is open every day from 9h3à to 18h, until 21h45 on Thursdays and discounted ticket prices are available for students.

5. Jazz à La Villette – Don’t let the summer vibes die with you fill of Jazz

Jazz

Ever since 2002, Jazz à La Villette has brought the summer to a close with a bang. It actually starts on the 30th August this year, but carries on until the 9th September, so you’re definitely not too late to get involved!

There’re too many talented artists to name, all of which can be found on the event’s official website, but one particular highlight looks set to be Janelle Monaé on the 5th September. Monaé, who released her stunning album ‘Dirty Computer’ earlier this year will play a sold-out show at the Grande Halle de La Villette.
